My new year's resolution is to do an MBA in 2016. My background is in IT and IT sales specifically, but I would like to eventually work in a large internet or tech company like Amazon or Google, or Apple/Microsoft, etc., where I would be able to grow with the company, have more upward mobility, etc.
I read somewhere that Amazon often recruits from Michigan (Ross) but that seems out of the way from the corporate offices of many of the bigger tech companies, which tend to be on the west coast. I was considering Berkeley or Stanford, but these schools seem to be more geared towards people who want to work in management consulting or finance.
There are also schools in the pacific northwest, something like Washington (Foster), which is super close to Microsoft. Not sure how this school is perceived by the big tech companies in general though.
Any thoughts from the crowd?

Try: How to use LinkedIn to find the best school www.find-mba.com/board/33571

I wouldn't use location as the deciding factor; rather, look at which schools have good relationships with the companies you want to look at. In fact, many of these companies that launched out of the Valley now have offices in many major cities, so geography is not exactly a limiting factor anymore. The old adage that you should get into the best school that you can, still stands, for the most part.
For instance, Amazon, eBay, Facebook, and Google all recruit from MIT Sloan, which is nowhere near these companies' main headquarters.
Amazon recruits from Tepper and Wharton, and probably from many more top MBA programs. Use Duncan's Linkedin method and analyze each school's career reports.

Thanks for the tips! I'll look at Linkedin, but MIT Sloan sounds like a relatively safe bet.
