I am planning on doing a MIFE program at this university, I am wondering if it is internationally recognized and the post study placements. Is this an university or a college?

No, this school does not have much of an international reach , to begin with, it's not accredited by any of the three business school accreditation agencies (AMBA, AACSB, or EQUIS).

I would like to settle and work in Germany. I have post graduate Diploma with finance majors from an India university. I am looking for an international masters to add value to my CV. I am planning to enroll in German language studies simultaneously whilst my Masters. I have 4yrs work experience in Equity research. I am looking at masters in quants or finance and risk. I want to emphasize my need be placed after my studies. Any suggestions welcome. I was drawn to the MIFE program since it was free and had a good coverage of subjects.

You'd be far better off with an accredited and ideally ranked MBA program, such as those offered by ESMT and Mannheim. An MBA like this will be better for you in virtually every way, from curriculum to post-program career support, something that you will most certainly need.

Generally, students with beginners' or intermediate language skills cannot gain professional language fluency during their time studying without this sort of language learning being built into the programme. Working in English, generally living and socialising with other students who do not also have the native language, means that international students develop their language skills slowly.

Yes I am aware of the language requirement and hence I am willing to move in to germany with a 6 month language course before taking up the MBA (term starts in March). I looked up google and most of the language courses are of 3-4 weeks duration. So does anyone know of a language course that is of 6m-1yr duration?

To be precise i already have a PG dip specialising in finance and an additional Masters in germany would only be as an entry point to the job markets. Most of the course curriculum is covered in my PG Dip.

I think what Ezra is getting at is it takes more than just the curriculum to get a job after you graduate. Realistically, you have a lot stacked against you: you're a non-native speaker who will have a highly quantitative degree from a school that does not have international accreditation.

But there isn't a ton of demand in the country for highly-quantitative, non-native speakers; and the firms that hire these kinds of candidates will most likely have strong relationships with schools like the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, whose MiF program has a much higher profile, along with the increased recognition, both in the country and elsewhere, that comes along with it.

In general, I think that ezra's advice further up in this thread still stands:

- most students, especially international students, would be better off with an MBA that's accredited by AACSB, AMBA, or EQUIS. An MBA from one of the ranked schools in the country -- ESMT, Mannheim -- is the safest choice.

- if you don't already speak German, it's going to be hard to pick up the language well enough to get a job in the country after graduation.
