Luxury class in HEC 2010

Do you think HEC is the good school for an MBA in luxury?

I read a good article on HEC program for its luxury class. HEC Paris in France can claim a very good position in the Luxury Strategy that's why Jean-Noël Kapferer, marketing professor at HEC Paris, and author of The Luxury Strategy, says the best programmes combine the traditional aspects of business education, such as a solid grounding in accounting, supply chain and marketing, with the luxury sector?s highly individual nature. ?You have to break the rules of marketing to build true luxury brands,? he notes.

Do you think it really worth it doing an MBA specialised in luxury? it is really my aim to evaluate in that fields!! But is a general MBA more efficient?

Marketing is where HEC excels and as you note Kapferer is a "god"..

Well the only thing I can tell you is that many top luxury companies are French. The top being LVMH that directly recruits from the HEC MBA. They have a special portal ONLY for HEC MBA grads... nuff said?

and yes, if you want luxury career then specialize a bit. Take classes for it, join the luxury club etc...at the end of the day, you simply cant do all your classes based on the luxury industry.
LVMH, Burberry, PRR all are great to work for and seem unphased by the crisis...why not!

Definitely one of the premier programs for luxury management.

There's also ESSEC in France and Alma in Italy. As you might guess, a school's proximity to a fashion/luxury center is essential.

Although Skema just launched a new Masters in Luxury and Fashion Management on its China campus in Suzhou, so for those looking to the next big thing in luxury, this might be a sign that China may be on its way up. The rising middle class in that country is already starting to develop a more refined taste in products - there's huge potential there.
