Manchester, Durham, Leeds or Bradford

DarranW

HI, I am weighing up Manchester Global, Durham Global Online, Bradford DL or Leeds EMBA.

I live in Leeds, so Leeds seemed the obvious place to start. However, I am put off from the enforced working full weekends every 6 weeks. Time off in the week is not a problem for my employer. So I looked into distance blended learning, and Manchester, Durham and Bradford all appeal.

Can anyone advise or link me to a good post, I found an excellent one from a student at Manchester on these boards. Ideally from someone who has first hand knowledge, or knows someone studying these courses. I would prefer the cohort/network to be UK-based, although obviously UK MBAs have global appeal, my field of work is UK based and I have no plans to change that. I guess a global MBA will have a global cohert, and if I want it to be more UK-based I need to look again at Leeds or other part-time attendance MBAs.

I guess I'm not too fussed for the whole networking thing, I just want to learn and find the best way of learning while juggling family life.

I would also prefer the distance learning to be all electronic, ie textbooks electronic, as I am out and about with work and home life a lot. I believe the textbooks at Manchester and Bradford are still in physical form?

If anyone has any thoughts please feel free to share, if not no worries, I will be chatting to the respective universities next week anyway.

For more information about Manchester have a look at http://www.find-mba.com/board/34624 , http://www.find-mba.com/board/33488/1 and http://www.find-mba.com/board/36601 .

Manchester has both electronic books and physical copies depending on the course. The study guides are always available as PDF as well as physical copy, but textbooks vary. I know that more modules are now working with e-books (such as accounting), but the majority of the modules is still using physical copies.

Students often get much more out of the on-campus experience than online, and completion rates and career outcomes are better for EMBA graduates. I'd suggest the Bradford EMBA, which is more respected than Leeds, and is flexible enough to allow you to speed up or slow down the pace at which you take classes. You'll learn much more from your classmates in an executive programme.

Thanks for the info, i think i will try for Manchester. I like the look of the Finance pathway, and i will hopefully benefit from the class time, which also tends to be in the week.
